1937 Crown (Dot beneath the I error type)
Categories Coins, Pre-decimal Coins
Grade: Fine to Very Fine
Description: 1937 Crown ‘Dot below I of Australia’ error type. A scarce error struck by an obverse die that had a small pinhead-sized depression in the open field just beneath the I of Australia, resulting in a raised dot on the surface of the coin. Released to commemorate the coronation of King George VI, the 1937 & 1938 Crown remain Australia’s largest coins ever struck for general circulation.
