Description: The 2000 $1 Proclamation Cartwheel Penny Silver Proof Subscription Coin was struck by the Royal Australian Mint to celebrate the bicentenary of New South Wales Governer Philip Gidley King’s Proclamation issued on 19th November 1800 that attempted to stadardise the value of the colonies copper, silver and gold coinage. One of the coins heavily used in this period was the 1797 ‘Cartwheel’ Penny, the very coin that the original design of this silver proof was based on.
