2004 Complete Set of Eureka Stockade Mintmark $1 Coins

Description: This 2004 Complete Set of Eureka Stockade Mintmark $1 Coins includes the B, C, M & S mintmark dollars as well as the scarce E for ‘Eureka’ mintmark $1. The 2004 $1 mintmark coins commemorate the 150th anniversary of the storming of the Eureka Stockade in Ballarat by government forces determined to put an end to an uprising by Australian gold miners who were objecting to the unfair taxes being placed on them. A total of 35 miners and soldiers were killed in the brief skirmish. The event is to this day Australia’s only civil uprising and is recognized as having inadvertently helped to sow the seeds of democracy as we know it today.
