2000 $1 Victoria Cross – VC Dollar

Description: The 2000 $1 Victoria Cross – VC Dollar, was produced by the Royal Australian Mint and pays tribute to the gallantry of Australia’s Victoria Cross medal recipients. The coin features a stylised representation of the Victoria Cross medal. Ninety-six Australian’s have, at the time of the minting of this tribute, been awarded the Victoria Cross in conflicts ranging from the Boer War (1899 – 1902) to the Vietnam War (Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War spanned the years 1962 to 1973).
